Performing arts especially music and ballet have always been favourite subjects of mine and I find myself returning to them again and again.
In This pastel painting I have sought to capture the between worlds atmosphere of a full costume rehearsal.
The ballerinas in their swan costumes are resting during rehearsals as the lighting and colours they cast create that other worldly feel of a full performance while their relaxed poses are those of backstage.
